“This was an exceptional tour. Not only was it focused on on the Jewish history of Lisbon, but we also learned about it in the greater history of Lisbon and its culture over the years. One of the best tours we have experienced…and we have traveled A LOT! Diogo was exceptionally knowledgeable about the entirety of Lisbon’s history. His experience as a teacher shine through. 4.Lisbon: Jewish History Tour of Lisbon

★★★★★★★★★★4.8 · 84 reviews · 1 day · from $106

Spend three hours walking Lisbon’s Jewish history with an English or Portuguese guide. Follow the route from Praça do Comércio through Alfama, Mouraria, Baixa, Praça da Figueira, and Rossio, while learning about medieval segregation, forced conversions, the 1506 massacre, WWII refugees, and the diaspora from Lisbon.

“The downside is that there are few if any physical remains of the Lisbon Jewish community to look at. However, Jose was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject and we came away with a deeper understanding of the history of Portugal in general and it's Jewish/new Christian community. He also took us to see hidden Roman remains and churches. Overall we would thoroughly recommend this tour.”
